JOINERY PHASE
The grain rises under your fingertip.
Every commission starts with a site visit and ends with a delivery I make myself — because I need to see the piece in its room. In between, I hand-select the boards, cut the joinery by hand where machines would leave marks, and finish with beeswax and linseed oil until the surface stops accepting it.
The result is furniture that takes on the smell of the house, the scratch of a key accidentally dragged across it, the ring of a coffee cup left too long — and becomes more beautiful for all of it.

48 pages documenting a single dining table commission — from walking the lumber yard to the last coat of oil. No techniques held back. The depth of process is the proof.
What's inside
Quarterly dispatches
from the bench.
Four times a year, I write about what I've been making, what I've been reading, and what tool or technique has changed how I think about the work.
Past issues have covered reading end-grain, the geometry of a well-tuned hand plane, and why I stopped using water-based finishes. Each one takes about a month to write.
